The Town of Smyrna finds its roots in the mid 1800's as an agrarian community with many large farms and plantations flourishing in the area. One of the more significant plantations, the Sam Davis Home, is Smyrna's most historic landmark and is designated as a state historical site. The plantation was home of the heroic Sam Davis who offered his life rather than reveal to the Union soldiers information that would compromise the Confederate war effort. Smyrna is a progressive community with a population of 38,073 people. It is a town populated with warm, hardworking people who enjoy an excellent quality of life. They have become a town that is vitally alive and heading in new directions, without sacrificing our past successes. There are a number of projects in the planning stages, or actually underway, that are contributing to the ever-changing dynamics in this community. Smyrna is, and will continue to be, a wonderful place to raise a family or operate a business.
